Our special recipe German sausage loaf has been on the menu and a favorite of guests for years. When we serve our Michigan baked oatmeal, the rave reviews don't stop coming.

Michigan Baked Oatmeal

1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups milk
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup dried cherries
1/4 cup chunky applesauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Preheat oven to 400 deg.
Mix all together and pour into a greased, oven-proof dish. Sprinkle additional almonds on top. Bake for 30 minutes, or until firm. Serves 2 or 3
